Updates

Hi there. I want to tell you about all the amazing things that are happening in Hollywood and Los Angeles right now. Wait... I'm in New Hampshire, the pit of boredom. So I have nothing to tell you.

I can tell you the script, Above Paradise, is out to MGM and a literary manager. Now we play the waiting game.

The best thing to do while you wait is to work, work and work some more. Otherwise, you drive yourself crazy with thoughts of success and failure and all that crap - not good for the soul.

Another thing you need to succeed in film is persistent. When all else fails and everyone tells you no, you have to believe you can do it. The author of this story is unknown. I don't know if this is a true story or a myth. Either way, it's an interesting story about not giving up.

Superman?

A Chinese man stands on a rooftop somewhere in China. The blue sky reflects his inner feelings. It is midday and a crowd is gathering below the four-story building. All eyes and fingers point to the Chinese man standing on the rooftop.

A few in crowd yell up to the man but he seems to be deep in thought. Out of nowhere, the man jumps into the crowd. Quickly the crowd moves and avoids the flying body.

The crowd gradually regroups around the wanna-be Superman. "Is he dead, someone asks?" One brave soul nudges Superman in the arm with his foot. The crowd jumps back as he opens his eyes.

"Are you okay, a woman asks?" Superman lets out a painful moan. "Why did you do that, another woman asks?" The man tries to get up but his legs won't let him.

"Your legs are broken, one man informs him." Our Superman turns himself over.

"Do you need help, an old man injects, as Superman drags himself towards the same building he just jumped off of." He shakes his head no.

"Where are you going, the same old man asks?" Superman ignores him as he makes his way towards the front door. The crowd parts in the middle as blood trails the broken legs.

Superman enters the building and crawls to the elevator. He hits the UP button and waits.

The elevator opens up and a mother and her child exits. She embraces her child as the sight of the broken legs come into focus.

Superman waits for the woman to leave before he crawls into the elevator. He presses a button and the door closes.

The chattering of the crowd gets softer and softer. The old man looks up at the blue sky and notices Superman on the rooftop.

Superman jumps off again.

Does he die? Of course he dies. The moral of the story is that he never gave up.

An even better question is would you watch a movie that started that way? What happens to a man that would make him jump off a building twice?

Later...
